Weekend warmup hits SoCal. How hot will it get on Father's Day?

A warmup has hit Southern California, and the heat is expected to peak on Father's Day.

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Things are warming up across Southern California for Father's Day, with desert areas expected to experience triple-digit heat.

A high-pressure system over Arizona will be close enough to generate hot temperatures over the deserts, while other inland area will also warm up. Meanwhile, onshore flow will keep the coast and beaches cool.

Sunday is expected to be the warmest day.

Los Angeles and Orange counties on Sunday will see temperatures in the mid 80s after morning clouds dissipate. Monday is expected to reach a high of 84.

The valleys and Inland Empire on Sunday will see plenty of sunshine amid a high of 96 degrees. Monday will also be hot, reaching a high of 95 degrees.

Morning clouds will give way to afternoon sunshine at the beaches on Sunday. Look for a high temperature of 76 degrees and a low of 63.

The mountains will have a high of 84 degrees, along with sunny conditions. The low temperature will drop to 49.

In the deserts Sunday, temperatures will hit triple digits, reaching a high of 102. Palm Springs is expected to reach 114 degrees on Sunday and 113 on Monday.
